… variations of a theme … abstract … thoughts

yesterday i created an abstract, which i called Sweet Dreams… today i used the same colors (well more or less, plus/minus one or the other)… and created a totally different abstract. did i ever mention that i love to play with colors? well i do.. my inner child does.. my muse approves……. so… we are all happy 🙂 i called this new one.. “Variations of a Theme” by which i mean the colors. they are the theme here… thus the title. so without further ado… let me show you my latest two artworks

see what i mean ? same colors, totally different art ……….. so much fun to create 🙂 my next plan is to go big… big with this style… needs some testing and trying out……… but i will get there. in the meantime i hope you enjoy my new style 🙂 my energy art as i call it.

.. prepping backgrounds… trying out new stuff.. this and that

today i seem to be really busy… after cleaning my flat – got visitors tomorrow .. ! – and getting my first bit of a tan on my NEW BIG SUNNY BALCONY .. and then preparing lunch… i decided to try out some new things i got. i usually use white gesso as a primer… – on anything.. paper, canvas, wood – but the other day i ordered transparent and black gesso. ok .. black gesso i knew already but transparent one, was new to me. so been giving it a try on various papers and i am looking forward to see what happens. … below a little bit of “visual info” … 🙂

so… here a few pics of the various gessos i used… the yellow one is … transparent gesso then yellow acrylic ink over it.. i am working on that one.. something is in there that my muse finds fascinating so.. going with the flow on that one. the others still have to wait a bit. top left… you see a bit of my workspace… actually THAT is my dining room and as i have guests for LUNCH tomorrow……. yup… i will have to put it all in a box and then… just re-arrange my “improvised studio” in the evening. my real studio is still full of moving boxes AND.. most importantly… i need two more tables.. 3 are not enough. plus.. i would need another bookshelf.. or something like that… but… one by one….. i cannot do it all in one day 🙂 as for the tables… i will see what the salvation army has in its secondhand shop … they usually have fabulous things !!

so let me see what happens with that yellow mixed media painting.. you might be seeing it again ! have a lovely weekend !!

so.. the muse has taken me in a completely different direction again.. at least the colour scheme is sort of the same .. i need to keep busy.. it keeps me awake. my chemotherapy makes me extremely tired.. the moment i sit comfortably, i doze off and soon glide into a deep and sound sleep… not really my idea of spending the day.. and mind you.. i sleep like a log at night too… so.. instead of sitting comfortably in a chair or on my red sofa… i paint.. i let the muse guide me to new realms… art and my journey being a constant adventure !!

.. that would make a good start for a fairy tale…… or a romantic story perhaps?? ok agreed.. it could also be the start of a crime story… but this… looks more like a fairy tale to me. so that is where my muse, my inner child took me the other day… i love the forest.. love being with the trees, love the smell of moss, raisin and rotting leaves, the small sounds of little critters… the deep silence… and that’s where they are.. the tree sprits ..

starting on a new one …

starting on a new piece of art is always an adventure for me… cause my inner child and my muse take control.. i let them handle it… give them free reign. i suppose.. it will be another piece of happy art – that’s what my inner child and i decided to call my style …… 🙂 when people tell me that my art puts a smile on their face and makes them happy… well i guess, i may call it that 🙂 HAPPY ART ……… from a happy artist.

waves… curves… that is what i see … but of course this is no indication at all, of what the finished piece will look like, what it will be all about.. the adventure can take me in all directions.. i am a drifter…… following the input i get, putting it down on this canvas board, embarking yet on another journey, guided by my inner child, my muse.. the collective unconscious, trusting the process that has started, feeling safe….  ….. happy weekend to all !

.. this painting i created in memory of a dear friend of mine.. who sadly left this realm in april of this year. she and i have been friends for several years.. lisa was also an outsider artist.. and we never met personally.. we only exchanged emails.. messages on fb .. well the usual. friendships can grow.. even if you never meet in person. i am lucky to have a few such friends all over the world. yay to the internet for that.

the downside is.. that usually – apart from email address and fb account – there is no more info that we have. even if you exchange photos, art, ideas, thoughts… we rarely have a phone number.. or an address. in lisa’s case i did have an address because, as i mentioned, we swapped our art. so anyway.. one day.. you have a friend.. and next day.. this friend vanishes. ok.. lisa has been very sick.. and our contact became a bit less frequent over the past few months. she was in hospital on and off.. had treatments and procedures.. but we would stay in touch. not worrying if several weeks would pass without a word. now though.. i did have a bit of a funny feeling… and eventually i started looking for a phonenumber….. thanks google for that. imagine my shock when what i found was….. her obituary… ! 😦 … only 3 weeks after our last correspondance… she moved on.. to another realm……… yes, i was shocked.. yes i was sad. i did not feel like painting or creating any type of art for the past few days…… you migh have noticed. and then suddenly my muse took me to my studio… and this painting happened.. in memory of my dear friend lisa.. who was so fond of flowers.. nature… i feel blessed to have known such a wonderful person ♥

ufff… lucky me ! i really thought she’s gone ………

who ?? my muse………….. phew…………. thought she deserted me again. she does have that bad habit of simply taking off……. just like that…….. without a word of warning…. one minute she is here……….. and poufffffffff next minute …… ……………… she’s gone……… that is very irritating and annoying.. if she told me i could prepare myself.. get enough book stash to keep me busy…… enough tea to make myself comfy in my reading corner… but NO… not this one. but………. i am glad to say i think.. she’s still around. at least i started painting again this morning… had some ideas .. working on backgrounds.. i feel relieved. so today i will show you an older mixed media painting of mine.. why this one? well.. you’ll see.. it is a doggie one.. and i think my muse whispered something about a doggie into my ear……… let’s see……. so here goes………..

Garden Town is a very happy place.. at the moment it is rather quiet.. well it is just around lunchtime and nobody’s outside.. busy indoors.. cooking or eating or whatever..

patterns-textures-layers … sketches !

my muse and i decided it was time for some fun.. mind you.. being creative is always fun.. but if you create something in the hopes that PERHAPS somebody MIGHT be interested in buying your art.. there is a bit of an edge to the fun. at least for me … this however.. sketches.. are just that. sketches.. no ambitions and hopes that PERHAPS somebody MIGHT want to buy them.. if yes, great.. if not.. great ! so there is totally no pressure on the creative process.. no mights, and hopes attached, no fears of making mistakes.. just completely letting go and accepting what’s coming my way.. fun with testing and exploring different techniques.. different media.. mixing them.. scribbling, writing, drawing, using pencils, crayons, left-over sticks from burnt-down incense sticks, etc etc.. adding paper, gauze, acrylic gel medium.. anyway.. you get the drift. and now i finished this first set.. and already new ideas for another set are bubbling in my mind.

this feels GOOD, this is REFRESHING, this is how it should be !!! LIFE is GOOD 🙂 have a fabulous day and thanks for dropping by and reading this !
