yes……….. we – my muse et moi – went very much outsider art / art brut yesterday….. she took me to my office … and i picked out a background which i had started creating weeks ago.. i LOVE creating backgrounds……… and just having them around me.. adding layers and textures… putting them aside….. and suddenly……… the creative spark hits me and i know… now the background is finished and we can take it from there….. and spontaneously the painting happens..

here i used mostly waxcrayons – neocolor – some inktense pencil and acrylics.. plus of course various papers, collage elements for the background, giving texture…

patterns-textures-layers … sketches !

my muse and i decided it was time for some fun.. mind you.. being creative is always fun.. but if you create something in the hopes that PERHAPS somebody MIGHT be interested in buying your art.. there is a bit of an edge to the fun. at least for me … this however.. sketches.. are just that. sketches.. no ambitions and hopes that PERHAPS somebody MIGHT want to buy them.. if yes, great.. if not.. great ! so there is totally no pressure on the creative process.. no mights, and hopes attached, no fears of making mistakes.. just completely letting go and accepting what’s coming my way.. fun with testing and exploring different techniques.. different media.. mixing them.. scribbling, writing, drawing, using pencils, crayons, left-over sticks from burnt-down incense sticks, etc etc.. adding paper, gauze, acrylic gel medium.. anyway.. you get the drift. and now i finished this first set.. and already new ideas for another set are bubbling in my mind.

this feels GOOD, this is REFRESHING, this is how it should be !!! LIFE is GOOD 🙂 have a fabulous day and thanks for dropping by and reading this !

as i was working on this piece.. it more and more reminded me of the beautiful artworks created by murano glassblowers, in particular the millefiori technique… i was wondering how they go about creating their art.. is it – at first – also an intuitive process.. ? so as i continued to work on it.. the title Glassblower’s Fantasy came to my mind.. and stuck.

… and now.. a mix of both ….

a mix of both? yes….. here in this painting i mixed “traditional” art and digital art… another form of mixed media thus ? i should think so.  the original was painted on canvas board, using acrylics and wax crayons. then i took a photo and uploaded this to my graphic program, where i added … just a bit. i did not want it to be too different from the original.. just a little tweak here and there.. prints, posters and products are available on RedBubble, Pixels.com and Society6 …
